Operation Sunshine, established by The Daily Record more than 20 years ago to send disadvantaged Morris County youths to Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA, today begins its 23rd annual campaign.

Each year Operation Sunshine features stories of children who dream of attending summer sleep-away camp. Each year, these stories inspire the community to give generously to make their dreams come true.

When asked why supporting Operation Sunshine is so important and why it has been so successful for so many years, Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA’s CEO Cherie Hammond said, “It’s about the thousands of kids and their stories — about how their Camp experience made their lives better and how they discovered the best in themselves.”
