The New Jersey Winter Kickoff will take place on Wednesday, November 4, at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, featuring a screening of Teton Gravity Research’s newest ski film, “Actually, It Is Rocket Science.” The lobby opens at 6 p.m., and the film begins at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $40.
The evening is organized by volunteers from the New Jersey and New York outdoor community and benefits Winter4Kids and The Hession Foundation. Winter4Kids works to give young people access to winter sports by reducing the obstacles that often keep them from participating.

More than $18,000 in prizes will be given away, including skis, snowboards, gift cards to The Committed Pig and Masseria Morristown, and a day of cat skiing in British Columbia. Attendees who arrive early can meet participating outdoor organizations and purchase coffee or hot chocolate from General Coffee Co.
Market Street Mission will also hold a coat drive outside the venue from 5 to 7 p.m., collecting new or gently worn winter coats for men, women, and children. Those unable to attend the screening can drop off coats at the Market Street Mission Thrift Store, 25 George Street in Morristown, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
