Morristown – In Jersey released a great feature story on Morristown’s own Recycling Education Specialist, Penny Jones. Penny has been recycling in her classroom since 1971 and became chairperson of the Morris Plains Recycling Committee in 1985. Her role blossomed and she became a full-time recycling specialist in 1990. Penny has created numerous education programs and techniques such as the Glinda Garbahj character, whose family was overwhelmed by garbage and as a result became aware of the importance of recycling, as a way of encouraging and educating elementary age students about recycling and its importance. You can read more about Ms. Jones and her accomplishments here.
