Diana Ross will provide the official kickoff celebration for the 2011-12 season at the the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown.
Ross, former lead singer of the Supremes and an Oscar-nominated actress, will perform Oct. 2, but there are several big shows before then, including an appearance by Jay Leno on Aug. 26, Lyle Lovett on Aug. 29 and k.d. lang on Sept. 22.
Other highlights of the season include comedians Jim Breuer of Chester Township, Tracy Morgan, Jim Gaffigan and Lisa Lampanelli, Broadway star Bebe Neuwirth, folk legend Joan Baez, pop favorites Wilson Phillips and Boyz II Men and more.
The theater also will return its popular Kids Club children series, while the New Jersey Ballet’s “Nutcracker” returns for 11 performances Dec. 16-26.
