This summer Macculloch Hall Historical Museum shares a recently acquired an original pen and ink drawing by the famous nineteenth century political cartoonist Thomas Nast.
This seasonally topical piece, “Where Shall we go this Summer?”, was drawn by Nast in 1882. It was featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazar, whose title was interestingly spelled with only one “a” in this period, on June 10 of that year. The museum already owns the engraved image from the periodical. The two versions now hang side by side on the second floor landing of Macculloch Hall. The images are almost identical; there are only minor differences between the two pictures which will be on display until Oct. 30.
