It’s a tradition that has brought Morris County and beyond together for the last 22 years, and this Dec. 31 will be no different.
First Night Morris County is set for another amazing evening, ending 2014 and ringing in the New Year all along the Morristown Green and at a variety of venues throughout the town.
More than 200 artists will take part in 90 events across 24 different venues over the course of seven hours, as revelers help wind down the clock into 2015.
This year an additional two hours of programming for children will be held at Morristown High School, beginning at 4:45 p.m. Two fireworks displays – 9:15 p.m. and midnight – will also be available.
Restaurants and bars will also be open in Morristown throughout the night.
Performers include The British Invasion Tribute band, Tequila Rose Band and jazz guitar legends Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniolo. Of course local jazz pianist Rio Clemente will be on hand as well.
It’s not just music that will fill the air Wednesday night, as Rizzo’s live reptile show and illusionist Anthony Salazar’s comedy magic will also hit the stage.
Tickets can be ordered online until the start of the program or purchased in person for $25, which covers admission to all events throughout the night. Children four and under are free, and group packages of four tickets will have a reduced price of $22.50 each.
One programming change, according to the First Night committee, is venue 9 on the map has been moved from the Presbyterian Church Parish House to the Hyatt Regency Ballroom.
The program is celebrating its 23rd year after launching in 1992. Attendees come from as far as Canada to enjoy the celebration and welcome the new year.
