Cornerstone Family Programs Raises Nearly $60,000 at First Drive-In Movie Fundraiser!

75 Morris County Families, Premier Sponsor Joe Forgione of JMF Properties and Other Supporters Combine to Hold Successful COVID-Friendly Event

Cornerstone Family Programs powered through the pandemic on Friday, Sept. 25th by hosting a Drive-In Movie fundraiser under the stars at Pine Plaza in Whippany.

The event attracted 75 families and raised nearly $60,000. It replaced what would have been the organization’s 13th Annual Bowl-a-Thon fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will go to support children’s programs at Morristown Neighborhood House, a subsidiary of Cornerstone Family Programs.

Families who attended the Drive-In Movie enjoyed popcorn, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Chick Wings & Things, and Kona Ice food trucks! There were also socially distanced games and activities. The big screen feature was the classic 1988 film “Big” starring Tom Hanks.

Joe Forgione of JMF Properties and the Francene and Joseph Forgione Family Foundation was the Premier Sponsor of the event and generously offered to host it at Pine Plaza. Other sponsors included A.J. O’Connor & Associates, Dr. Judy Banks, Cadia Private Client, Chubb NJ, HBK IT, Dun & Bradstreet, McKirdy Riskin Olson & DellaPelle, Lydia and Eric Muller, Mike and Virginia Ranger, Salerno Duane Auto Group, Kate and Todd Schermerhorn, Senlac Partners, Melanie and Alan Smith, Station Partners, and Sweetie Pig Foundation.

“We are so grateful to the sponsors and community for supporting the Drive-In Movie and our programs at Cornerstone Family Programs. We had to create a fundraiser in lieu of our Annual Bowl-a-Thon and couldn’t think of a better, safer family friendly event than a Drive-In Movie” explains Gwenn DellaPelle, Director of Development. “And a huge thank you to the Cornerstone Junior Board for being such a tremendous help at the event! We couldn’t have done it without them.”

“Cornerstone Family Programs and Morristown Neighborhood House are such a vital part of the community,” says Mr. Forgione. “As a Morris County-based business, we jumped at the chance to be a part of this important fundraiser.”
