Morristown Festival of Books is partnered with the Morris Educational Foundation (MEF) to expand the Morris School District’s schools’ library collections. The Morris Educational Foundation is an organization that enriches the educational opportunities for the more than 5,100 students in each of the 10 schools within the Morris School District. Morristown Festival of Books has generously donated a $10,000 grant, which provided all 10 schools with funds from librarians to buy age-appropriate and diverse books.
The Morris Educational Foundation and the Morristown Festival of Books are pairing up to provide the Morris School District school libraries with books to enhance social and emotional learning.
Social and emotional learning involves the process through which children and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
Both organizations along with the Morris School District are committed to helping students on their educational journey by providing resources and supports that further the development of self-management, social awareness, responsible decision making and positive relationship skills.
