via Morris News Bee – Registration is now open for auditions for the sixth annual “Morristown’s Got Talent!’ show scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.
Auditions will take place throughout the day on Saturday, Dec 15 at Morristown High School.
Anyone interested in auditioning must register at the event’s website at morristownsgottalent.com. The deadline for registering for auditions is Saturday, Dec. 1. There is a $10 audition fee.
The event is sponsored by the Morris Educational Foundation and will feature amateur talent from Morristown, Morris Plains and Morris Township.
Four arts and entertainment professionals will judge the competition. There is a $1,000 cash prize for 1st place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place.
Auditions are open to anyone who lives, works or goes to school in the towns of Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains. Alumni of Morristown High School are also invited to audition.
“The Morris Educational Foundation is very excited about our 6th anniversary production of Morristown’s Got Talent. We are proud to give our community’s local amateur talent an opportunity to perform in front of their hometown and in a top notch facility such as the Mayo Performing Arts Center” said Fran Rossoff, Board of Education member and Chairwoman of the Morristown’s Got Talent Committee. “We are anticipating selling out the theater once again this year.”
Debbie Sontupe, co-chair of the Board of the Morris Educational Foundation added, “The Morris Educational Foundation is a integral part of the Morris School District and this fund raising event will further the Foundation’s ability to distribute financial and other resources to and for the Morris School District for enrichment programs and other projects aimed at enhancing the quality of education and educational opportunities for students in the district.”
Last year, the event raised more than $50,000 for the Morris Educational Foundation. Tickets for the show will go on sale in early 2013 through The Mayo Performing Arts Center. Read more Bee here!
