Morristown officials predicted the renovated Pioneer Park at Headquarters Plaza would become a popular entertainment venue when they cut the ribbon back in June 2021.
The public will get tastes of those possibilities with a pair of free shows this month.
On Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, the Mayo Performing Arts Center presents singer-songwriter Jeiris Cook, performing
his unique, percussive style of soul music tinged with folk and R&B. A husband, a father of three boys, and a producer and R&B artist, Jeiris Cook hails from the south and has deep musical roots there. Coming from a long generation of both musicians and vocalists, his talent captures and harnesses those skills through his songwriting and vocal delivery.
And on Wednesday, Sept. 28, MPAC, will showcase percussionist Emedin Rivera and his
vast array of contemporary music genres. Emedin’s unique rhythmic percussion clearly underscores the Latin-Caribbean-African influences. Emedin has performed with such accomplished artists as Stevie Wonder, Harry Belafonte, LaToya Jackson, Sting, Gregory Hines, and Ben E. King.
Both hour-long concerts start at 5:30 pm. Pioneer Park is at 3 Speedwell Ave.
